Cygnus is back, and being tested on the 4th revision of the Renesis Turbo kit (yes, 4th!) as we want to make absolutely sure that this perfect before any pre-orders or release.
For those that know, and have been following the @blackustan instagram page, Cygnus underwent a complete overhaul over the last couple of months. A breakdown with that will be shown soon.
A trackday was booked for Croft way in advance, but as the due date drew near, we had to miss critical details last minute, such as a wheel alignment and a full tune, just to make the day. So the running in of the engine, amongst other things, had to be done at the track.
Fastforward to the trackday; initial testing proved to be very positive! Other than a cooling issue over the course of the lap (potentially self-inflicted), Cygnus performed exceptionally well, all things considered. We only managed wastegate pressure of just over 8psi for now, but we can already see a good improvement over the previous revision. Power is definitely there, but we are hungry for more. The engine is capable of more. And even at low boost, the mighty RX-8 was keeping up with a GTR, a V6 Emira, M2, and various other cars through corners and straights before needing to cool down.
The day was great, and Cygnus drove there, and back home without any mishaps. Not bad for an RX-8 thrown together last minute.
We just want to say; a MASSIVE thank you to friends, family and customers alike for coming along on this trackday to see the rebirth of Cygnus, to everyone that wished us well and have been supporting us along the way. You are all valuable, and very much appreciated! 🫶🏽 It was awesome to see a few of you on track, even including a couple that had our engine builds!
Also, a huge shoutout to the people that made this all possible:
@GarageREG for the Apex Seals, Engine machining, and studs (my guy 💪🏽)

@MAP_Tuning for the last minute ECU support 👨🏾💻✅️

We are back!
